Oakland

Oakland, is one of Pittsburgh's liveliest neighborhoods, and is home to several universities, museums, and hospitals, as well as an abundance of shopping, restaurants, recreational activities and students. Be sure to check out the Craig Street business district for dining and shopping.

The community gets around mostly by bus or by foot, with bus stops on nearly every corner. Fifth and Forbes are the two main traffic avenues that pass east to west through Oakland.

Oakland is home to the Schenley Farms National Historic District which contains two city designated historic districts: the mostly residential Schenley Farms Historic District and the predominantly institutional Oakland Civic Center Historic District.  And surrounded by Pittsburgh neighborhoods of Shadyside, Squirrel Hill, Greenfield, Bloomfield, and the Hill District.
